For some people, ingrown hair is a nightmare. Ingrown hair appear all over the body, and it is difficult to get rid of them.Painful and irritating, many have experienced the discomfort of having an ingrown hair. Dip tweezers in rubbing alcohol, iodine, peroxide or boiling water to sterilize and prevent infection, and gently free the hair.Pointed tweezers, rather than the flat-tipped ones, cause less damage to the surrounding skin. Or use a sterile needle to fish the hair out.

Those who are prone to ingrown hairs should avoid shaving altogether. If you must shave, always use a sharp blade, as dull ones are usual culprits of ingrown hair. Depilatory creams and waxing may be a better idea. Using depilatory cream works because the tip of the hair that remains after use is rounded, unlike the sharp tip that results from shaving. Waxing or plucking, when done properly, will also work because the entire hair is removed and the tip of the new hair is thin.

Keep your skin moist and soft.If you suffer from dry skin, start using a moisturizer every day after bathing. This will not only keep your skin soft but will soften up the growing hair, which can keep it from boring into the skin.

Twice a day soak a clean wash-cloth in very hot tap-water, then cover the infected ingrown hairs for a few minutes to soften the skin.This softens the hair underneath your skin, helping it rise above the surface, draws any pus out and reduces the inflammation.

To reduce irritation, you can use vitamin E oils, first aid and other topical creams, and cooling aftershave lotions. You may also take ibuprofen or another oral medication to relieve pain. To avoid infection and further skin irritation, products like Neosporin may help. Always keep the affected area clean to promote healing.

Another way to get rid of an ingrown hair is with a laser hair removal. This zaps the hair and kills it. It may take several treatments to get the best results.Once you know how to get rid of ingrown hair, you won't have to be plagued by this very common problem again.
