Even if you are a celebrity and would most of the time be out in the open to be picked on by people, you will still feel uncomfortable. Who wants to go out of the house and be judged by who you are? Get to know yourself and your best angles using a mirror - Everybody has a specific angle in which they photograph best. Stand in front of a mirror, move your head slowly up and down, tilt it side to side, and right and left. Look carefully to find the angles where you look your best in photographs.

Clothes - Try on outfits beforehand. Choose colors that look good on you and clothes that aren't too tight and pulling or stretching anywhere. Check for any loose buttons or stains.

Moving in closer to the subject can make your photos much better looking. The reason is because when you move closer your photo gets much more focused and simple.

Harsh light, such as bright sunlight, will accentuate any imperfections or lines on the facial skin. Try to have pictures taken in indirect lighting, under trees, or indoors next to a window.

For those who are shying away from the camera when it comes to picture taking, you should not worry if your photographer is just your friend or a family member.

Chances are, they would not even care if you look ugly or not because they are actually more concerned about how fun and precious the memory is when it is preserved in a photo.

For those who have hired professional photographers, they do not need to worry. Photographers are there to please you, not ruin you. Their job is get the best picture of you and not the worst photo you have been dreading.

Strain your neck out a little. When taking pictures, the placement of your head has a great influence on how thin you will appear. Move your head and neck outward when being photographed so you minimize the chance of being captured with a double chin.

Turn to the side. You'll look thinner if you pose at a three-quarters angle from the camera. One foot should be placed slightly ahead of the other, with the one in front pointed toward the camera. Turn your head to look toward the camera and shift all of your weight to your back foot.

Keep an upright posture. Standing up straight doesn't just make your mother proud, it helps you look thinner in pictures! Line your spine up with your shoulders. Pull your shoulders back, hold your chest up and contract your abdominals

The search for inspiration - Look at magazines or online images to spark ideas of what would you like your pictures to look like, and communicate those ideas to your photographer. This will also give ideas for interesting poses.

Change the way you stand and try to experiment on things and see which picture suits you and which pose takes the attention away from your weight.
